Baked Donuts with Maple Frosting

Donut or doughnut?  What's the difference?  Anyone?  I've always spelled it donut because, well, I have no idea.  Probably because that's how Dunkin' Donuts spells it so that's donut law to me.   Either way, they rock!  I love them!

And what do you do when your kids both have a sleepover?  Well, you do facials and make donuts, of course.

Here they are with their face peels on.  Funny, right?  They loved it!

And eating donuts too?  Now, that's a sleepover!

Baked Donuts with Maple Frosting

* 1 cup flour
* 6 Tbsp. sugar
* 1 tsp. baking powder
* 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
* 1/4 tsp. salt
* 6 Tbsp. buttermilk
* 1 egg
* 1/2 tsp. vanilla
* 1 Tbsp. butter, melted

Mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon and salt in a bowl.  Add buttermilk, vanilla egg and melted butter and mix well.

I put the batter into a zip lock bag so I could pipe it into the donut maker.  You can also bake these in the oven at 325 for 9 - 10 minutes.

I love my little donut maker, tho.  I forgot I had one until I saw Sue's (from Cakeballs, Cookies and More) post on Nutella Donuts.  Yum!

We put maple frosting on our donuts because we are huge maple frosting nuts!

Maple Frosting
* 4 cups powdered sugar
* 3 Tbsp. butter, softened
* 1 1/2 Tbsp. maple flavoring
* milk

Mix the first 3 ingredients.  Slowly add milk until your frosting is the right consistency.  We like ours thick and delicious!

Yum, right?

I asked my daughter to smile.  Her response was "I can't stop eating them!"  I think she liked them =o)

firstly, how funny is that, they look like they had a blast. Secondly, I always see things then think, I need that, then remember I have it already. Got to try these!

When you say "maple flavoring" do you mean maple syrup or maple extract...or possibly something else?

thank you,.

You could put maple frosting on a piece of wood and I'd eat it. :))

love that these are not fried but baked. We used to have a donut maker like that when we were growing up.
