My Grandmother's birthday is 5th December and my Mom grew up putting the tree up on that day every year, when I grew up we did the same, and now that I have my own kids, we do the same! lol Also, when I grew up my Mom read me "Santa Mouse" on Christmas Eve and we had a little Santa Mouse plushie friend who slept with me that night. My Santa Mouse didn't make it for my kids, but I was able (with a lot of hard work since apparently it is vintage! lol) to find the book and another Santa Mouse! So we do that every Christmas Eve night. We also get hot chocolate and drive around with Christmas Carols playing looking at lights each year. Each year we also like to give back, and make cookie baskets for the local firemen/EMT's, and visit the hospitals and give reindeer stuffed animals to all the children who have to be in the hospital Christmas day. We also are starting the "Elf on a Shelf" this year! We like traditions in our family, can you tell?! =)

We like to mix things up each year in our family, so we don't stick to many traditions. But there is 1 thing "we" do each year: Santa always leaves a TRIP or family excursion. One year, it was season passes to Sea World. One year, he left maps and hotel reservations for a visit to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Last year, Santa left tickets to the Pirate Adventure Dinner in Buena Park, California. The year before last, he left camping passes for Glamis, California.
