{Kiss} Friendship Rings

How much fun are these?  I'm thinking these are going to be little party favors at my daughter's birthday party in March.  She loved them that much!  And who could blame her.  I'm sporting one on right now =o)

I first saw them on the Family Fun website.  (Have I mentioned how much I love that site?!?!)  Then I saw them again when I got my February issue of Family Fun Magazine.  Then this morning I was reminded how cute they were when I saw them on Mom on a Time Out.  I took that as a sign that we had to make them.  So... here they are.  Cute, right?

You will need:
*Pipe Cleaners
* Hershey Kisses

That's it!  My kind of craft =o)

Start by twisting two pipe cleaners together (forming as "X")

Place a Kiss in the center, point side up.

Wrap the 4 pipe cleaner ends around the top of the Kiss, then twist them together.  (We pulled off the little paper wrapper.)

Bend both pairs of cleaners into a ring shape.  I wrapped it around my finger to do this.  (Thanks Trish for the tip!)

Twist the ends together at the top of the ring.  Trim the ends.

There you have it.  Easiest craft ever and my daughter is wearing hers all over the house with pride.

Dye-ving Dudes

Do you dye Easter eggs? Some people do and others (I've heard) think it's just a big mess so they avoid it. We are one of those that do. My kids love dying Easter eggs. But what the heck do you do with all those eggs? We hard boil some. My son loves hard boiled eggs. But the rest we blow. What's that, you ask? We blow them. Seriously. We blow the guts out so I can use the insides when I bake and then we use the shells to dye.

If you haven't blown eggs with your kids before you seriously need to do it. It's a hoot. My daughter gets all serious and blows like a mad man. Sometimes she just spits all over the place. Other times she blows so hard her face turns red and she starts to shake. Either way, I'm on the floor laughing. But she does it!

It's really easy. Just poke a small hole in each end of the egg and blow!

So we got out all of our eggs and our Easter egg dye and got to work. But then I saw these adorable Dye-ving Dudes in the current issue of Family Fun and I quickly gathered the materials needed to make them. Totally cute, right??? The tutorial is found here.

Fakin' and Eggs... For Dessert???

I'm not much of a prankster. It's not that I don't think they're funny. I just don't do them. Well, not a lot at least =o) So for me, April Fools Day isn't really a big deal. But it's like I said in my St. Patrick's Day post, "now that I'm a Mom I have to holiday it up, right?" So what better way to celebrate April Fool's Day than with these awesome Fakin and Eggs! Even you non bacon eating folks out there can make/eat these!

And who doesn't love fun food? We're kinda crazy about it. It all started back with our candy sushi and it's gone a little crazy since them.

Where did I find this fantastic inspiration? Did I make it up? Um, seriously, no. I got it from.... where.... you guessed it, Family Fun! I love that site!

They were super easy to make and my kids freaked out when they saw them!

The eggs were super easy. You'll need:
* white chocolate chips (or chocolate bark of some sort)
* yellow M&Ms

For the bacon you'll need:
* caramels (one for each strip of bacon)
* and mini Tootsie Rolls (one for each bacon strip)

I tried to take a picture of my kids enjoying them but they wouldn't stop chewing long enough for me to take a picture. They loved them!

Puppy Love

I think I should just rename my blog "All the ideas I steal from Family Fun". Seriously. Because whenever we get the magazine we all look through it and say "Oh, we have to make that!" about a million times. This was no exception. We had to make this, of course. I mean really... hot dogs and Valentine's? What's not to love, right? =o)

My kids loved it. Not that the hot dogs were anything special. But the presentation was what got them. They sat down at the dinner table and both smiled so big. And then came the "ah, Mom. This is so cool. You did this because you love us so much, right?" Dang. They know me so well!

You will need:
* hot dogs (duh)
* uncooked spaghetti noodles
* cheese

That's it! Heart away! And don't you just love the name? I stole that too =o)

You're A Blast! Valentine Rocket

I thought this Valentine craft would be fun for my kids to make. We did something very similar to this back in September for the first day of school. (You can check it out here.) And we loved making our Valentine iPods but needed another fun Valentine to give to friends. We got the idea from Family Fun. Are you getting the idea that I love that site? =o)

They were easy to make.

Stuff:
* Rolos
* Hershey Kisses
* aluminum foil
* red and yellow construction paper
* double sided tape
* glue

Glue the Kiss onto the end of the package of Rolos. Cover with aluminum foil.Wrap with red construction paper covering the Rolos (but not the Kiss.
Make a "flame" out of the yellow construction paper and glue onto the end.

You can write whatever you like on it. We wrote "You're a Blast"!My kids are excited to give these to their friends. They were easy to make and who doesn't like Rolos?!

Tell Your Valentine They ROCK

Is it too early for Valentine's Day things yet? Now that Christmas is over I've moved on. I'm ready for another holiday and more crafting. I'm not much of a Valentine's Day person. I mean, I love doing crafts and things for my kids. But all the lovey dovey stuff makes me kind of vomit. Sad, right? Perhaps because I don't have a Valentine and haven't in, I don't even remember how long. So when I see everyone blissfully happy and buying flowers, blech. I'm not much of a flower person either. Heck, buy me 6 pounds of See's chocolates and I'm in heaven. They cost the same amount of money, right? And aren't chocolates much more exciting? And delicious?!

But I got off topic. Back to telling your Valentine (or kids) they rock. Aren't these adorable? I can say that because I didn't make this craft up. I just stole it. So it's not like I'm bragging or anything. Where did I find it? Over on the Family Fun website. It's the best website for kid's crafts. I just love it. And when I saw these Valentine ipods I knew my kids would flip over them.

They are easy to make. Here are the ingredients you will need.
* You can use a box of the Valentine heart candy things. I think those are seriously gross so we used Junior Mints. (I also bought Nerds and those worked great too.)
* 2 miniature Reese's Peanut Butter Cups
* aluminum foil
* string (I used a thinker cord type string)
* colored card stock

- Cut 2 pieces of string around 14 inches long.
- Tape them onto the box of candy. I taped them to the back of the box on the first ipod but then taped them on the side of the others. It looked a little cooler on the side.- Cover the box with colored card stock.
- Tape the other ends of the string to a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup- Cover each Reese's in aluminum foil- You can either print out your own "playlist" of songs and glue it to the front or you can download the one I used off of the Family Fun site.How cool is that? And on the back I wrote "Because You Rock!" (Because I'm just clever like that.) =o)
