Summer Movie Express at Regal Cinemas

Summer kind of snuck up on us this year. I normally have a big list of things to do with my kids that are free or super inexpensive. (Because I like free and super inexpensive.) So I'm sorry this is late this year.  But this is a good one.  

Do you and your kids like going to the movies?  We do.  But I hate paying a fortune for them!  It's ridiculous!

A couple of years ago I found out about The Summer Movie Express Program through Regal Cinemas.  Now we go to the movies a ton during the summer.

What is the Summer Movie Express?  You can go here to find out more but in a nutshell, movies are $1 on Tuesdays and Wednesday for a 10am showing.  There is a G movie or a PG movie to chose from and the choices vary by area.

Kids Bowl Free this Summer

Are you looking for activities to do with your children that don't cost money? I constantly am searching for fun things and have such a hard time finding free (or super cheap) things to do. I stumbled upon this amazing program last year and loved it.

Fun Christmas Activities and Lots of Free Printables

Christmas is going to be here in less that 2 weeks and I have nothing. No new craft ideas, no new recipes. I'm scrambling around trying to fit everything in before I implode from the stress of it all. I know, how sad is that, right? Work is so crazy right now. I work in a middle school and you might think this time of year is great and wonderful and stress free. But it's not. The kids that I work with are not excited about the holidays and it makes me sad. They don't want 2 weeks off from school because that means being home with people who aren't very nice to them. It means sitting in a living room with no Christmas tree and no presents because they have no money. So this week is always so hectic at work and depressing if I let it get to me. So I'm trying to not let it get to me. I have so many wonderful things to be thankful for.

My two best things that I'm thankful for are my wonderful kids. Love them to pieces! And to me, 2 weeks off from work means time that we get to play and cook and be together. We go fun places, we stay home and do fun things. We just hang out together and watch TV and giggle and I love it!

So when I was blog surfing today (I mean, working really hard) =o) I came across some great Holiday activities that I am going to do with my kids and thought I would pass along the great blogs that made these cute things. Free Summer Bowling For Kids

I love it when a friend emails me and asks if I've seen a certain activity or recipe that I can do/make with my kids. And I LOVE when the activity is free! I mean seriously... free rocks! So when a friend emailed me this site I did the "whoo hoo, free stuff" shout out and decided it was so good I had to pass it along to all of you.

Free bowling! Yep, free. And I'm not just talking about in Oregon. This program is all around the country. So all of you who live far away can also enjoy this FREE thing. (Because don't you hate when you find something really cool only to find out it's too far away?!?!)

This program provides kids with 2 FREE games of bowling each day for the entire summer! Here’s how it works…

* Select a bowling center near you: click here to view a list of participating centers (note: more centers are constantly being added so check back if you cannot find one near you at this time)

*Register directly on the bowling center page (The registration is valid only at the bowling center where you register and cannot be used at any other bowling center unless otherwise noted.)

*Once you register, you will have the opportunity to purchase the family pass (You do NOT have to buy the Family Pass; however, if you have adults that would like to bowl throughout the summer, then the Family Pass is a great deal. It starts at $24.95, covers up to 4 adult family members and includes 2 GAMES PER PERSON PER DAY.)

*Once you complete the registration, you will receive 2 emails: (1) The first email is a welcome email and contains your account information (2) The second email is very important…it does not contain coupons, but you will need to click the link confirming your subscription to the service. FREE Movies at Regal Cinemas

Once again Regal Cinemas is hosting their Free Family Film Festival this summer. This event has been going on since 1991 but it wasn't until a couple of years ago that I even heard of it. And did I mention it's FREE?!?!

Click on this link to find a movie theater near you that is participating.

Theaters will be playing selected G and PG movies each week on Tuesdays and Wednesdays starting the week of June 21st. The movies will start at 10am. It is free to children and parents. Yep, absolutely free! So if it's a scorching hot day and you need a break from the heat, go to the movies. If you're tired and don't want to run around that day, go to the movies. If you're low on cash and want to do something that's free, go to the movies. Heck, just go to the movies! It's fun and free and how can you have a better combination than that?!?!

Free FUN Projects for Kids

A friend of ours told me about classes that they have at Lowe's for kids. I didn't give it too much thought. I'm not much of a "handy" person. I can craft up a storm, but hammer and nails... not so much. My brother and sister were granted that talent in our family. But the other day I thought I'd google Lowe's and see what these classes were all about. Was I a fool to not listen earlier!

Lowe's Build and Grow Program is amazing! It is held every Saturday at 10am in most Lowe's stores. You can register online and get more info on all the classes and projects.

So I registered my kids and we showed up at 10am last Saturday. WOW! I am usually pretty good with words but... WOW! It was awesome. They handed both of my kids an apron and safety goggles and a packet with all the supplies they would need for a bird house. They even have little hammers for little hands. The aprons and goggles are their to keep. Yep, keep! For free! Did I mention this whole project was for free?!?! No cost at all involved.

So we went to one of the "tables" set up there. My kids put on their new aprons and goggles (safety first, of course) and we started looking through the directions on how to build a bird house. After reading the directions and looking at all the pieces I was starting to feel pretty confident. Maybe I can actually build something!


Both of my kids needed a little bit of help with the hammering but not a lot. All of the pieces of wood had pre-drilled holes so you knew where to put the nails (thank you Lowe's!)


When we finished our projects and turned in the hammers my kids both received a certificate and a patch. The patch goes on their aprons (did I mention we got to keep the aprons! and goggles!!!) So next time we go back my kids will have a patch on their aprons and feel like they are experts at this building stuff.
